Lee's Road to a Brighter Future

Lee Sproul registered with the Equal Access to Employment team in April of 2008, after being introduced to the service by his sister who had done extremely well with the support of the service and is now thriving in her role as a care worker. Since then a combination of partnership working and a strong commitment by Lee to taking positive steps to change his life means he is now in a good job and looking to the future.

"When I registered with the Equal Team my self confidence was really low and I was unsure of how to move forward. The team helped me to decide what I wanted to do and helped me improve my confidence. I struggled a bit with the interview stages of the job process so the team set up a mock interview which really bettered my skills and ability to relax in that kind of formal environment"

Lee then landed an interview with Hillington based employer Loomis who specialise in cash logistics. He was then offered a permanent position as a factory worker and is really enjoying his new role.

"When I heard I had got the job I was over the moon. I was in a state of disbelief and could not wait to get started. The team where so supportive and it felt really good to have someone believe in me"

In order to help Lee sustain his job and get the best out of it, he was allocated a key worker from the Equal Access Team.

Donna is so pleased about the huge steps Lee has taken:

"When I first met Lee he was truly lacking in confidence and self esteem. Since coming on board with the team and gaining employment he has completely changed. He has become an engaged confident man with a lot to give. While we were working together we built up a good, trusting relationship and seeing these changes in him and how much he has come out of his shell is really rewarding."

The team arranged and funded the completion of Lee's fork lift license in order to allow him to develop his skills within his current role. Lee is now working to develop his skills both within work and personally.
