A variety of different community groups in Renfrewshire have been awarded much needed sums of money by the “Awards for All” fund, supported by the Scottish Arts Council, Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Sportscotland.

The Ferguslie Community Nursery Committee where awarded a fantastic £10,000 to create an ECO Garden where parents and children can get involved in its creation and up keep. Supported in their application by PPRC, the nursery Eco garden will not only look beautiful but will enhance the learning experience of the children, developing their awareness of environmental issues whilst providing a lovely place for story time.

The STEP forward project in Ferguslie Park also received a fantastic sum of £9870 to make internal adjustments to their centre. This work will involve building a corridor between the main hall and other rooms which will make the centre much more user friendly. New storage cupboards will be built and doors widened to allow wheelchair access. A stairwell and mezzanine floor will also be built.

Finally the Douglas Nursery 321 parents association received £3174 to install a library with CD’S, books and IT equipment which is suitable for young children of nursery age. Thos will boost the learning experience of the children and provide new different ways of learning.

Annette Gibson of PPRC commented:

“The team at PPRC are thrilled that these groups have been awarded money for such worthwhile projects. Each of the groups are striving to better the life experience of people in their local community which is a credit to them all”
