Depute Council Leader Eileen McCartin was welcomed among other prominent figures in the community to attend a launch event hosted by the Mountain Ash Residents group.

The launch, attended by Councillor Eileen McCartin, local police officers and community wardens, was a great success and kick-started a new era for the group with new surroundings and equipment to allow for better social opportunities. The event took place in the Rowan Court annexe, a purpose built facility the residents use as a social and meeting area. The residents and invitees voted the event a great success.

The launch was an opportunity to celebrate the group’s new surroundings and funding of £1953 awarded by ‘Awards for All’ for the residents to use to help enhance their social activities.

The award will help to provide social and recreational opportunities for residents. New equipment includes a state of the art plasma television and DVD player for film nights, a laptop, games, puzzles and much more. The fund will also enable the group to undertake a trip to Helensburgh which boasts some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside and gardens.

Jenny Rowland, resident and secretary for the group commented “The funding has been a great help to 90 households in the block and we have used it to increase the activities we think would be beneficial to all”

The local residents had an opening to remember and kick started their way to a more enjoyable social life.

Mountain Ash Residents group were supported in their application for funding by Paisley Partnership Regeneration Company’s Community Action Team.
