Strengthening Scotland's communitiesWed, 28 May 2008
Community Volunteers from across Renfrewshire gathered to attend the second of two “Scottish Community Development Foundation Workshops” organised by Paisley Partnership Regeneration Company’s CV community training programme. The workshops centred on building community capacity – one of the three Scottish Government priorities for Community Learning and Development. Penny Baldwin, a community volunteer who helps to run Glenburn Krafty Kids, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. It definitely made me think about ways in which we can develop our project as well as giving us an outlet to discuss some of the issues community groups face day to day” The workshop was delivered by Ian McKenzie of the SCDC who stated that: “This experience was beneficial not only to the community groups within Renfrewshire but for us as the service provider – it has made clear some of the issues Renfrewshire community groups face and what support is needed for them to become more effective” The workshop was hosted by the Community Action Team at the Paisley Partnership Regeneration Company offices in Ferguslie Park. Anyone looking to find out more about community projects in their local community can contact PPRC’s Community Action Team on 0141 887 7707. PPRC’s Community Voices programme operated with support from Renfrewshire's Community Planning Partnership, Communities Scotland and the Community Voices programme. |
